Acclimation SOP

The Acclimation Process: The 21-Day SOP

The plant didn't fail. The grower did.

English
The stomata of a TC plant are, in short, bad news. They are fully open, they have never been forced to constrict, never experienced humidity below 95%. The protective Cuticular Wax Layer that is supposed to seal the leaf surface against water loss, barely exists. Expose such a plant to regular indoor air at 40–55% humidity, and within hours you will see wilting. This is not weakness. This is physiology. Most growers make the classic mistake: they remove the TC from the dome too early, see wilting, panic, add water, and drown the roots. The problem was not dryness, the problem was the speed of transition. The 21 days exist so the plant can build everything it lacks: wax coating, new roots, resilience. Week 1: Seal the dome. Completely. Do not open, at all. The plant does not need ventilation yet. It needs 95–100% humidity, indirect light only, and quiet. Check after 7 days: new white roots = ready for the next stage. Black roots = rot, repeat the sterilization protocol. Week 2: 'Burping.' Open the dome twice daily, 10 minutes in the morning, 10 minutes in the evening. Increase by 5 minutes every two days. If the plant wilts, you are moving too fast. Reseal, wait two days, restart at a shorter duration. This is a process, not a fixed schedule. Week 3: 30 minutes open in the morning, 30 at midday, 30 in the evening. By the end of the week, remove the dome entirely, but maintain a minimum ambient humidity of 55% in the plant's immediate area. Critical diagnosis: Transplant Shock looks like this, yellowing leaves, mild wilting, white roots, the plant recovers within 2–4 days of full humidity. Root Rot looks like this, swamp-like odor, black and soft roots, wilting that worsens even at full humidity. Act immediately: remove dead roots, repeat H₂O₂ sterilization, use drier substrate.
