The mature specimen produces leaves that can reach 120cm in length with white percentages ranging from sector patches to full stripes — every leaf is different, every new growth is an event. Macrorrhiza's variegation is a Sectoral Chimera — full white stripes along the midrib. The less stable type of variegation — consecutive leaves can change significantly. What stabilizes it: consistent growth rate. Not too fast, not too slow. Light: 65% indirect. Tolerates slightly more light but direct exposure continues to be damaging. Dedicated plant LED lighting (5000K, 40–60 PPFD at plant height) is the most controlled option for Israeli climate. Humidity: 80%+. Below 70% you will begin to see brown edges on white sectors. White zones lack chlorophyll and are 2x more sensitive to humidity stress. Substrate: pumice (40%) + activated carbon (20%) + zeolite (20%) + Orchiata bark (20%).
